What’s the minimum order?
Growers set their own minimums. Many will quote for a few dozen pumpkins, and larger orders, such as a full bulk bin or pallet, usually get a better price per pumpkin.
When should I order?
As early as you can, ideally by late summer. UK pumpkins are harvested from mid September, and growers plan which customers get which part of the crop well before then. Popular sizes for carving sell out first.
How long will the pumpkins keep?
Whole, undamaged pumpkins with their stalks on usually keep for several weeks if they’re stored somewhere dry and out of frost. Carved pumpkins only last a few days, so most shops sell them whole.
What does “grade” mean?
Pumpkins are graded on shape, colour and finish. Premium pumpkins are evenly shaped with good stalks, which suits display and resale. Standard pumpkins are good quality with small marks or a less even shape, at a lower price.
